6. Conclusion
Finishing this paper we conclude that mobile internet at the moment is technically possible, but can not be used yet for the masses. Current network technologies like GSM are still too slow for real mobile internet, but mobile speeds are increasing very fast, and arangements for the change to packet switched networks are allready been made, so the network will be ready for mobile internet very soon.
The functionalities of WAP are somewhat limited, and at the moment do not yet please the customers. The example of I-mode however proves that mobile internet is possible, even on today's limited phones. In the future when screens get higher resolution, and become foldable so you can unfold it when you need a big screen, it might be even possible to view normal web pages on a mobile terminal. For specific functions it might even be possible to use speach technology where the user can ask questions, and the computer answers them, or provides the requested service. In this case screens are not at all a problem.
In short we expect in the future mobile internet will become very popular, with high speed mobile terminals and applications like remote control of home appliances, video conferencing, lokalised information (e.g. answers to questions as "where is the nearest cinema playing .... (some movie)), and maybe even payment services.
